But most of Cisco's acquisitions, while smooth, haven't yielded the results they'd hoped.
I'm inclined to agree with your premise, but I don't think there are any clear cut winners in the merger/acquisition realm.

Glaxo may be the best example, but that's because they did it by the book...which is the ONLY way to do it.
GE does it by coopting culture, but their culture is so good, it usually is pretty painless for most of the employees in the acquired company (speaking from experience).

Merger Mania and the final outcome.....

So much depends on the spirit of co-operation that exists between the two companies. I have no knowledge of the extent or lack of co-operation that is now taking place.

Some closer to the scene should give us some insights.
