Bush keeps saying that the reason for the terrorist attacks are their envy of our freedoms. Perhaps his plan is to take away our freedoms so that the terrorists won't be jealous anymore..

Thanks, I bookmarked it.

Warning: OT political rant:

In every war we've ever had, going all the way back to the Alien and Sedition Acts during the Napoleanic wars, the Bill Of Rights has been suspended for the duration. Looks like we're doing it again, using the Cold War model.

In the Cold War, there was paranoia about the EvilAmongUs, the hidden communists who were destroying us from within. The response was J. Hoover's FBI, a rogue paramilitary power that answered to no one, had its own political agenda, and operated outside the Constituation for decades. The CIA routinely overthrew governments and assassinated foreign leaders throughout the Cold War (which looked a lot like terrorism, to those on the recieving end). After Watergate, the FBI and CIA were (partially) restrained. That's over, now.

Now, we've got a new war, and a new Bogeyman, the Moslem Fundamentalist. A new focus for our nationalist hate. And, once again, the FBI and CIA are being given a free hand with zero accountability, to terrorize here and abroad. The fight against terrorism, and governments who support terrorism, isn't just in Afghanistan against the Taliban. It's at home, against our own government.
