I don't equate the two. Clinton tried to put himself above the law to protect his own sorry lying ass. He perjured himself, obstructed justice and misused his office. He used his friends, family and cabinet in a most cynical way, all to protect his own sorry butt. No man is above the law. That is the basic tenet which has made this country the place it is and the envy of the world...

The other is a war time situation. As citizens we should expect to see our normal civil liberties restricted to the degree necesary to ensure that the war is successfully prosecuted to destroy these animals thus insuring that we are able to continue to freely exercise those rights we are guaranteed under the Constitution and our laws. War creates exigent circumstances which justify the measures the Bush Administration has adopted and proposed. The Courts and our Congress still function normally and our system of checks and balances will insure that the pendulum does not swing too far....

"Ashcroft was very clear that he wanted public debate about the actions of the Justice Department," she said. "What he does not think is helpful to the country is misstatements and the spread of misinformation about the actions of the Justice Department."

"Anyone who reported this morning that he criticized anyone who opposed him was absolutely wrong and in doing so became a part of the exact problem he was describing."
