Thanks for the Safire post, Win. He is one of those op ed folk I find I have to read. I vigorously disagree with most of his stuff but he's always worth the argument.

Preparing to tell the Senate Judiciary Committee where to get off today, Attorney General John Ashcroft lashed out at all who dare to uphold our bedrock rule of law as "voices of negativism." (A nattering nabob, moi?)

This is particularly funny if you're old enough to remember who wrote that speech for Agnew: William Safire.
