This appears to be turning into a big Compaq bashing contest. I'm sure it is in the back of the Hewlett & Packard foundations collective minds that they would become a smaller voice after the merger.

Anybody have an opinion about Hewlett's activity triggering the $675 million contractual payment at this point? A board member leading a proxy fight sure seems like it should be a contractual violation to me. He is certainly not doing Compaq shareholders any favors with his public comments.

If the merger doesn't happen, HP will suffer. If the merger happens, HP will suffer. HP seems to be in a lose lose position at this point. Ironic isn't it.
