Dear Thomas: Many years ago I went to YOSEMITE and spent a week. Did you know that the valley (where most people limit themselves) represents ONLY about 3% of the park? I hiked all over and saw all the waterfalls. Too old to do that anymore, but it was BEAUTIFUL. JDN

Haven't checked out the pix yet, but Yosemitee is awesome. The surrounding 100 mile radius of this park is what I call (as well as many others) God's country. I have camped in the eastern Sierras since I was a little kid, and think the combination of granite and LARGE Ponderosa pines is the most scenic of all scenary. The terrain shifts from high desert to forrested beaver pond stuff in a matter of just a few miles. There is an awesome ghost town called Bodie that is about 50 miles from the park that used to be the 2nd larges city in CA. And it is a butt kicking (but beautiful) high desert environment at about 10,000 feet of elevation.

If you ever plan to come out to visit this awesome area I would be happy to point out dozens of close by places that are unbelievably unique and beautiful. Mono lake, Devil's Postpile, Hot Creek, Mammoth Mountain, etc. This is the land where John Muir roamed along with Herbert Hoover (I think that is the right Hoover as much is called "Hoover wilderness).
