1982 Argentina and Britain come to blows after Argentina leaves a flag on an uninhabited island near Antartica. Hi Bilow, LOL, well they also "left" a massive force of ships and an army too. -g- I remember going to work that day. Bored, getting in the car, starting the engine, tuning on the radio.... and hearing of the invasion force and the captured Marines... Just flabbergasted! Wow, war this day and age!!. It would have been nice if that war was worthwhile. Like many it was hard to justify. We could have given every Islander several million pounds each, even retired each sheep in a state of splendour, and saved lots of tax payers money. The Falklands did have a use for the British Navy as a coaling station once upon a time. They gave the German Navy a good duffing from it in a rare WW1 success. But do we need it now and is it really part of the British "Islands"? Very hard to justify. Discovery of oil field may change perception of course. Worse then that... We could have declared a 200 mile fishing "exclusion zone" around the Falklands [aka Iceland] and protected the fishing grounds. No, those silly bu**ers in government were still in tiff over Iceland and cut off there noses to spite their faces. Even the fish lost out. All very sad.
