I've never been banned from any thread (moderated or not) in nearly 6 years of posting on SI. And would prefer to keep it that way.

Me too. I wouldn't like to see you banned either -g-

Is my original question worth even answering ?

"Conspiracies don't exist? Try conspiracies are 95% the norm. Think of anything significant you have ever done in your life. If you don't see one, someone is being smart that's all."

Hello Michael D. Cummings,

It turns into a very subjective process

Well of course it does.

I set the guidelines and tenor; the discussants develop the material within those boundary conditions. That's what establishes the unique character of each and every moderated thread on SI. And at over a 1,300 posts per week on FADG, the participants appear to be comfortable with these arrangements (not to mention the estimated 5-10 times as many lurkers).

If my (admittedly strict) guidelines are too confining and no other forum suits your needs, you really should consider starting your own thread. I'm sure you'll find it an illuminating experience.

Best regards,
