In the years between 1995 and 2000, 40% of North Americans were connected to the Internet, with half of that occurring in the last 18 months. If there was NO GROWTH for the next 5 years, at that rate we'd have completed the remaining 60% by 2004 and have every pet in the USofA wired in by 2005

You rest your entire "growth of the internet" valuations based on purely how many people are "connected"? That's all? This group has talked repeatedly about growth of the internet. There is "slightly" more to it than what you present.

Clearly, the pace was not sustainable.

I say: Clearly the internet is still in it's infancy. Very much in it's infancy. In fact, this recession can be compared to the infant crawling back into the womb.

Your thesis of causality rests on the supposition that equity prices in the spring of 2000 were normal and healthy.

Where did I suppose that?

That business was operating at a sustainable pace.

When did I say that? You're sure adding much to what I said. Why do you have to add or take away from what someone says. Then feed your spin back to them to make it sound ridiculous? I could explain. But am not going to go chasing after your leading spin game.

If it makes you feel better to point to Greenspan...

I don't need to. Greenspan himself, in September, admitted in a public statement that: "I ruined the world economy and created this world wide recession".

I won't quote anymore of your insults. You're now getting back to a simple pissing contest. Why do you always have to do that?
