I'm a big taxpayer in the USA [via my shares] but have no say other than to vote with my feet and take my investments elsewhere

Maurice, I would post a well thought out response, which would no doubt change you mind on this issue. :)

However, I am not sure if disagreeing with you would offend the thread starter and get me booted. Until I understand the posting process here. I'm basically in a censored mode tip-toeing through the tulips as it were.
