I used to grow corn in the yard. Got away with it for several years. And then it started..... disappearing. Some critter (coons, I think) got the ears before me. Not even ripe yet. I tried pepper spray on the outside leaves of the ears. I think the critter enjoyed the corn more with that seasoning!

I finally just quit growing corn for several years so the critter would have to find another sucker. Seems to have worked; I've gotten harvests the last two years.
