They said the same kind of stuff in 1990 before Netscape changed the internet from FTP this and FTP that into point and click....

In 1990 Microsoft was telling everyone that "Point and Click" was for Girls.. And computers that employed GUI interfaces (aka MacIntosh) were "girls computers"..

Real men typed "command Lines". Like

FTP
ok
ftp>
bin
ok
ftp>get 192.9.200.5/usr/sample.dbf

Of course then came Window95 then they had to tell all of the "men" that the girls were really correct!!

I understand your point.. but, the concept that the mobile users and their desire for "data applications" have somehow been hampered by 64kbs offered over IS-95B.. And that somehow when data rates over 300 kbs are offered.. That suddenly all of these users will show up!! Most American's access the Internet over dial up 56Kbs..

The basic problem is (as I have explaned before), Is that data is simply considered a "second class citizen" in the US.. Data is seen as "almost free".. Wireless Service Providers deploying High Speed Data Services will be using spectrum that can be used for "Pay by the minute" Voice Services.. So not only do the High Speed Data services have to generate at least as much "PER MOU" revenue as Voice Services.. They have to be priced "Higher" than Voice Services to provide for a ROI on the costs of deploying these services and Infrastructure.. And it's not just the one time Infrastructure costs.. It is the Month to Month increase in Backhaul costs on a per cell basis..

Until you can raise data from the perception of being "near free".. To a value much higher than voice.. You will have a hard time making a business case for High Speed Mobile Data Services..
