I live in suburbia too - but about a mile from a creek that flows from one of the major mountain ranges walling in Silicon Valley to San Francisco Bay. The critters live in and around the creek and mount scrounging expeditions at us suburbanites.

I'd gladly plug them too. I've tried a few times but they never come around when I'm waiting for them. Probably they stay away from too much human smell.
