My comment is that our world is constantly shifting and we need to stand at the ready and be vigilant. This is what irritates me about short-sighted people: they can only look at the now or the immediate past. War can come suddenly, from unexpected corners, so we need to be prepared for anything. What if we were attacked in many, many locations on September 11? Embassies, cities, etc. We have to be prepared! Yes, Britain and France are our allies, but they are independent nations. One should, ultimately, depend only on himself.
