THANKS, rich eagle! Wow ...

...complicated, I see ...

This looks good .. snip from the link you posted:

<<The idealistic approach of Sikhism is that it recognizes the existence of the same heavenly Light in every
human being, rich or poor, high or low irrespective of caste, creed, color, race, sex, religion or nationality.>>

I'm doing business with people who describe themselves as Sikh (only in context of conversations about religious faith ... which thanks to ridiculous posturing of the Bush admin comes up now in daily conversation in the name of racial profiling sanctioned jingoism --I am embarrassed to be a native-born white U.S. citizen, frankly -- what effing audacity the idiot has to push Christianity down the throats and up the kazoos of everyone in this country and around the world -- what effing ignorance -- and I want to acquaint myself with how their beliefs influence their outlooks on life.)

That's why I'm trying to get some education on the subject.

Thanks again ...

I'll do a search as well and look on other threads for anyone with direct knowledge.

rich eagle, where are you? Subj: Ismaili

Do you or anyone else (Charleymane?) know anything about the Ismaili faith and especially people -- do you know people of this faith? -- work/success ethics in application here in U.S.?

I'm managing the publicity for an event later this month hosted by a beer distributorship for a group of 230 Ismaili convenience store owners as well as numerous Hispanic (Catholic and beer-drinking) colleagues ... independently owned (as opposed to national franchises i.e. RaceTrac, 7-11, and the oil company-owned) store/s ... -g- ...seemingly impossibly disparate interests ... actually it (business model) all is working very well/highly successfully in American R/T life ...

Suits me to a 'tee,' believe me ...

If I were a closed-minded egocentric and theocentric-- -g- is that a word? I want a word that means "my God is the ONLY EFFING GOD, okay, g*ddamnit?" -- RWE, I would be incapable of this sort of project ...

I found this so far re Ismaili:

amaana.org

<<snip>>

Islam is a religion of peace and historically the true believers have not persecuted
members of other faiths as Allah says "let there be no compulsion in religion"* and
elsewhere in the Quran Allah says that faith does not enter the hearts of people save for
Allah's will* and our duty remains just to present the message. This is the reason that the
Christian and Jewish faiths flourished during the Muslim rule during the middle ages and
were allowed to practice their faith in peace and without persecution unlike the invading
crusades and others in history.

THis looks good to me ... another link on Ismaili estimated worldwide numbers @ 30 million.

... am looking for U.S. statistic ...
