Dave if you read through my posts I emphatically stated that none of the words in CVA stood for "attack" it was our less than brilliant friend JLA who came up with that one, and his jargon book. What I said was that the primary mission of an Aircraft Carrier was Power Projection which is primarily attack!

The A may have been dropped, the ship now launching all the close air support and air superiority over Afghan is the USS Teddy Roosevelt CVN 71. But the A never stood for "attack either". Take you argument up with the US Navy.
