<<Another downer for the Bells is that people are cancelling their second phone lines as they get cable or DSL>>Quite true, and not only are they losing the 2nd phone lines, but they appear to be losing the overall 'fat pipe' battle to supply the whole shebang...TV, phone, video on demand, internet and whatever else that can shoved into the home thru a single cable, with a single bill. The cable guys got nothing to lose...cause the phone lines can't hadle the whole package, but phone traffic could easily be added to existing cable without disrupting present business. The idea of concentrating that market with the cable weasels is not appealing though.
