There's Something about Nothing

Actually, the study of "nothing" is one of the more exciting frontiers of physics today. See focus.aps.org for a recent abstract. Note particularly this quote:

At the heart of these experiments is the Casimir effect, a phenomenon from quantum electrodynamics (QED). QED dictates that all space, even empty space, is filled with an infinite number of electromagnetic vibrations.

The Casimir Effect is a manifestation of a larger phenomenon known as Zero Point Energy (ZPE). See sciam.com for some general information on this subject. The "consensus view" is that ZPE is not "exploitable" and for this we should be very grateful because human spirituality is not yet sufficiently evolved to permit us to do so without destroying ourselves. A mastery of ZPE would permit the manipulation of the fabric of "reality" itself as well as provide an infinite source of energy, conclusively demolishing the Illusion of Insufficiency.
