Main Points of briefing by commander of the west bank division - Brig. Gen. Gershon Yitzhak 9.02.01 idf.il During last night, forces of the Nahal Brigade, Paratroop battalion, engineering forces and other units raided the villages of Anabta and Ramin. Four Palestinian policemen who broke through an IDF roadblock and opened fire at our forces were hit in the village of Anabta. The forces returned fire. In the Ramin village a man with a handgun came out our forces returned fire, he was injured in his leg and evacuated to Israel. During the operation operatives from the Tanzim, the Islamic Jihad and the Jibril Front were arrested. The operatives dealt with placing bombs, and shootings on the roads and hurt innocent Israeli civilians. During the operation an explosives laboratory and explosive material were discovered in Anabta aimed for the use in Israel. Between eight to ten weapons were collected. As well as this, on Friday at twilight time , two terrorists from the Tanzim on there way to carry out a terrorist attack were killed by Egoz soldiers from the Golani Unit. This force, like the forces which operated last night, operated professionally and with determination and struck the two terrorists who hurt the civilians in the area of Paduel Route Aley Zahav - Beit Arieh. All our activity is carried out against the terror directed at Israeli territory and against the lack of resolve and lack of action of the PA against terror activists. Also, in recent days the PA has carried out arrests but these were sham arrests. Small fish are being arrested and not the real activists. In the current situation in which the PA has waited until the rage has subsided, we have no choice but to fight by ourselves until the PA returns to the negotiating table and ends the path of violence. We see the suffering caused to civilians and I am sorry for it, but they are being caused by PA factors that do not choose the way of peace and I hope for a better future. Our activity is never conventional, we operate in a variety of ways in the different regions. Tonight's operation saved many Israeli lives. In all the recent operations including tonight, we notified the Palestinian Brigade commander that we are operating in the area. The activity is intended for self protection following the terror incidents carried out against innocent population. I do not wish at this point in time to give account on the rest of our activity.
