What about data-enhanced voice or data-voice combination?

I agree!! A good market for these types of services.. But, they require a "Killer Application".. And most would not require more than 64kbs Data.

Something like the phone that I mentioned here one time.. Once that displays "AOL type Buddy Lists", and other phones that are active show up on your buddy list. It has Voice to text translation so that you can send text to PC Users that are on-line IM mode. Also has a "Ping" Feature that allows you to send "Mapquest" style map that shows your location to another phone.. all with QChat.. But agian.. I don't think you need more than 64kbs.. And I think users would have a hard time understanding that there is an additional charge for the use of data..Since they probably would not be talking (Voice) when they are using the data functions..

That is why all of the SP's want to see a killer application!! They want to see something with a demonstrated market that shows them X number of users will pay $X amount a month more, for these data services, that generate profits that are equal to, or greater then stand alone voice services.

When you can do that.. You will have them all standing in line..

Until then.. Voice is the killer application. IMO
