Re: I feel it's necessary to point out that

In the past 3 years, for desktops/workstations (I'm not including Itanic sockets).

AMD has introduced Slot A and Socket A.

Intel has introduced Slot 1, Slot 2, Socket 370, Socket 423, Socket 478, and Socket 603.

. Get real. Ditch the AMDroid attitude [that AMD has had fewer socket changes], and think for yourself for a change.

You seem to have lost it since you found out that Intel was trailing AMD in process technology (despite spending more on R&D than AMD gets in gross revenue).

Must have been a terrible blow for you.

First AMD reports that their long range program 15nm transistors are switching faster than Intel's, then AMD's development partner releases this about near term processes in final validation:

Intel dropped the ball on SOI, despite all those corporate dollars they spent chasing their alternative technologies, AMD picked up Intel's fumble, and is racing towards the goal line.
