Yes, it does take away from their cause. It is difficult to feel sympathy for a people who, by and large, condone and support active and intentional atrocities committed against women and children, particularly intentional mass murders.

My view is that a just cause produces a just leader. It does appear that the mass of Palestinians are not seeking liberation+freedom, but liberation+genocide of the Israeli Jews. THAT takes away from their cause.
