Well-informed sources said that the US envoy Gen. Antony Zeini conveyed to the Jordanian King Abdullah II a proposal agreed by Israel to sending Jordanian troops to the Palestinian territories in order to separate between the Palestinians and the Israeli soldiers.

As always with these proposals, the question is, what will the Jordanians do when the shooting starts? Hamas and Islamic Jihad won't agree to the truce. Buffer troops have essentially three choices: 1) become combatants, 2) leave, 3) become human shields. Generally, they don't have the stomach for 1), 2) has political costs, so they unwittingly choose option 3).
