My dad's one of those tough old WWII vets too. At 81 he still does some consulting whenever they ask him to at the plant in town. Seems nobody else they can find is quite as good at estimating jobs on extruded steel pipe. And he doesn't even charge half of what his time is worth to them. And that is just his second job. The other one is totally voluntary at the historical museum. The man is a communitarian. He works his tail off still, appreciating and giving to the people and the way of life he spent 4 years in the Pacific fighting for. But some things I don't think he is ever going to tell me. And he doesn't mind my ferrets even though if they weren't mine he'd probably just as well shoot them.
