Santa Claus "really became something" to shoppers and children. I've seen more pictures of Santa Claus than Jesus, so your point doesn't make much sense.

In addition, the weight of popularity does not make something true. Otherwise, the Earth would still be considered flat.

"Raising a point to consider does not make it true." I didn't say that I was raising a point to consider. If you want to get into the details, you will find many accounts and names of the period. Unfortunately, I cannot spend much more than this on the internet, but there are many sources if you are so inclined. But if you merely wish to continue believing what you want to believe, nothing I say would make you search further.

You make many premises backwards toward your already-assumed conclusion; to wit: "If Mithra was such a believable story I would expect to find the Mithra story competing today for adherents? "

I might as well say, "Since there are no elephants around your house, you must be brewing up some mighty powerful elephant repellant in your basement." <<< The absence of one factor does not prove the existence of another.

The "lawyers" statement is real fluff.

so long.
