RE:"would it make you and the other AMDroids feel better if you could prove that AMD didn't lose market share last quarter"

First of all, I am an Intel shareholder...

As far as last Q it appears that it was a push when it comes to market share. No significant change from Q2 which is rather amazing when you consider how AMD mucked up the Palomino launch.
This Q I expect Intel to gain a little share...
X-box...the main reason...also Athlon XPs are sorely lacking on retail shelves.

RE:"As it is, the market share changed about 0.7%, according to some sources. That's almost too close to make any conclusion. Subtracting X-Box CPUs, and what do you prove? That AMD gained market share? I doubt it means much - but I'm sure the AMDroids wouldn't miss giving the song and dance if they had the suspicion it was true."

It only matters if Intel uses share gain as PR or allows it to be used as PR...
