the nasty secret of "deflation"... ...is that people like it ! (paraphrased from recent article about Japan in the NYTimes) people in general, especially a lump-inna-snake retiring Boomer population, most of us sitting on some kinda nest egg ~ well now how many of us are gonna squeak about having this buying power wealth effect, even when growth is not evident if it becomes much more difficult for other or younger folks to become wealthy ? > the thing that is flooring me right now is the (apparent) lack of attention to the GLOBAL nature of this downturn... yes that's certainly true; perhaps now more than it has ever been. imho we're not only dis-engaged from the Rest Of The World, but also dis-connected from Cities in particular, where ever they may be: not so many Republicans or, Christian Fundamentalists living in TheCity (^_^) -Steve
