What's there to be silly about? The President cannot declare war, only Congress can do that. You justified the adminstration's actions by saying we were at war. Then please tell me when Congress declared war, because I certainly don't recall seeing it on the evening news.

An administration that is unwilling to formally declare war yet is quite willing to chip away at liberties as if war had been declared is an administration that cannot be trusted to keep our liberties secure.

If you want to justify your position by comparing the current state of events to Vietnam you are, of course, free to do just that. Between the lying of LBJ and the more horrible actions of Nixon, the comparison seems rather fitting.

But you won't be doing your argument any favors.
