8:12AM Cabot Micro (CCMP) 75.88: UBS Warburg downgrades to BUY from Strong Buy citing recent 80% rally in the stock; remains positive on the stock, ups price target to $85 from $75, and would look to upgrade shares on any considerable price weakness.

7:51AM Centillium Comms (CTLM) 8.85: Salomon Smith Barney downgrades to OUTPERFORM from Buy on concerns about slower-than-expected sales of customers' central office ADSL platforms; although valuation appealing and there are signs that ADSL mkt is improving, short-term concerns leads firm to maintain $12 price target.

7:33AM Merrill Lynch on Semis : Survey of semiconductor group for 2003 finds rev growth and gross margins to come in below peak 2000 values, leading to the conclusion that those companies most successful in cutting costs will recover first, such as ADI and MXIM. Downgrades TXN and ATML to NEUTRAL from Buy, due to high valuations and less aggressive cost-cutting efforts.

7:27AM Lattice Semi (LSCC) 20.69: Enters agreement to purchase the FPGA business of Agere Systems (AGA.A) for for $250 mln in cash. The transaction is expected to be accretive to Lattice's calendar year 2002 pro forma earnings before goodwill.

7:25AM Anadigics (ANAD) 18.34: Updates Q4 financial guidance; expects wireless revenues to reach approx. $13.5 mln at the high end of previous expectations; Broadband rev remains on track at $7 mln; puts EPS loss at $0.44 (consensus -$0.44). ANAD's outlook not as rosy for Q1. For the period, ANAD sees loss of $0.38-$0.42 on rev of $16-$19 mln vs consensus estimates of -$0.36 and $19.03 mln.
