Updated: 10-Dec-01 14:00 ET

13:48 ET Research In Motion (RIMM) 23.38 -0.10 (-0.4%): Banc of America says RIMM should report in-line results on Dec 20, but the company may trim Feb guidance a bit as shipments to carriers Voicestream, Telecom Italia Mobile, and mmO2 are more likely to begin in the May qtr rather than Feb. Firm also believes that RIMM could sign deals in mid-02 with AWE and Cingular as well. While the Feb qtr could be weak, CY03 could be a "huge break-through" year.

13:37 ET Genesis Microchip (GNSS) 61.57 +1.92 (+3.2%): Company announces that competitor Silicon Image (SIMG) has terminated its investigation that had been before the United States International Trade Commission (ITC).

13:32 ET Bottomline Tech (EPAY) 9.19 +1.14(+14%): Discloses in 8-K filing with the SEC an agreement with Fidelity Service to provide a transaction initiation and reporting platform designed to manage and control the money movement of shareholder dollars for the Fidelity Group of Funds.

13:25 ET Nasdaq Sub-2,000 : -- Technical -- Index has edged below support at 2,000 though total volume traded is light at this point in the session -- the Nasdaq has yet to crack 1 billion total shares traded. On a clean break below 2,000, look for secondary support in the area of 1980 followed by subsequent support at 1965.

13:25 ET XO Comms (XOXO) : S&P downgrades company's credit rating to 'D'. Action follows announcement Nov. 29 of restructuring that would cause equity holders to lose substantially all of the value of their investment and company to default on scheduled interest and dividend payments. XOXO shares have been halted since Nov. 29. At this time, no indication of when trading will resume.

13:22 ET Broadcom (BRCM) 43.96 -1.60 (-3.5%): -- Technical -- Trading down towards its worst levels of the session as the Nasdaq comes down for another test of 2000. Has little in the way of significant support until the area of 42.65 which marked the bottom of its last sell wave. On an intraday basis, we would become less cautious on BRCM if it would reclaim ground above 44.50.

13:04 ET Sanmina (SANM) 24.00 +0.05 (+0.2%): Experiences surge in volume; hearing from traders that issue being pushed to lows of day by Bloomberg report that Moody's is revising its outlook on combined company (SANM/SCI) to Negative

12:48 ET Qiao Xing (XING) 6.06 +0.96 (+18.8%): Announces entry into China's emerging GSM and CDMA telephone markets through a strategic alliance with Shenzhen Zhongxing Telecommunication Ltd, one of China's largest telecommunications equipment manufacturers. The Chinese Government recently awarded ZTE Corporation with licenses to manufacture and market GSM and CDMA wireless mobile telecom terminals in China.

12:34 ET Johnson Controls (JCI) 79.93 -0.99 (-1.2%): Prudential downgrades to HOLD from Buy, based on valuation; raises price target to $82 from $77.

12:16 ET Marvell Tech (MRVL) 38.00 +1.04: A Fortune magazine article reports that Marvell executives accidentally continued a conversation on voicemail after believing the call had ended; on the voicemail left with a small private company it was in talks with, Jasmine Networks, MRVL execs discussed their possible exposure to criminal and civil suits by Jasmine, though they did appear to be speaking hypothetically. Jasmine filed suit against MRVL in Sep, but a judge has now ruled that the voicemail discussion is privileged and can't be used in court since MRVL lawyers were included in the conversation.<<
