Record CPU revenue would be a 41.5% increase (from $467M in 3Q01, $661M old record 1Q01). amd.com amd.com For a very short press release it had a lot of positive news and it took several readings for it all to sink in. And then Toni@AMD confirmed each of the major points. I have also not seen any non-AMD press repeating points #3 or #4 but at least AMD was able to ride the Intel press wave due to the timing of the release. -PT

I compiled the data from the last few quarters (all data from www.intc.com): IAG Q1'00 Q2' 00 Q3 '00 Q1 '01 Q2'01 Q3 '01 Revenues 6,652 6,756 7,039 5,113 5,127 5,393 Op. Profit 3,006 2,971 3,347 1,683 1,446 1,328 As you can see the revenue high was in Q3 of last year. Intel would have to grow revenues 30% in order to set a new record. I doubt they'll have more than 10% growth. So it looks like AMD is doing far much better in processors right now. It appears that AMD is always doing well when they have a clear performance lead versus Intel. I wonder how and if the situation will change next quarter with the arrival of Northwood and hopefully new XP speedgrades. Andreas
