Where is Capellas?

it seems it's easier to find Bin Laden than to hear anything from Capellas...

Why is he hiding? Why didn't they give an update about this quarter? If it's strong as some people have been saying, then why not come up with guidance? That may have changed the way the Packard foundation voted.

Why can't he communicate any reaffirming messages to shareholders when everybody's now talking about Compaq's demise.

I keep some M-funds for the LT and let them ride. Over the years I have accumulated quite a few issues that doubles or more and on those the original cost was taken back and the 'free' shares ride. I still like BRKa when cash is high and looks like not much is going to happen for awhile,, those shares stay forgotten also. At times the BRKb shares are purchased but strictly for a swing trade.
Your description of gambling in the mkts is accurate. For that reason all swing trade purchases are watched closely and usually only companies known well (mntg & aai fit there easily). Some, like cpq are not held over weekends either except in very rare times. Best of luck with it THIS time.

said he believes Compaq's stock price will perform MUCH better than HWP in the coming year (doubted HWP will move any higher from here). Said Compaq's restructuring is now bearing fruit. Said their business is very strong this quarter.

Said HWP should go with the deal, criticized HP heirs for shortsightedness and "unrealistic" view of layoffs, and that HWP shareholders will regret the opportunity.

If Dan Niles is bullish on Compaq, that speaks volumes. Use this sell-off opportunity to load up on CPQ. It's just a bunch of hedge funds unwinding arbitrage positions.
