Until we have true Campaign Finance Reform, powerful special interests will bury the fundamental invisible hand of the free market, and meritocracy generally.

The Bells do what they can do, for themselves and next for their shareholders on down down down the hierarchy to their residential customers. They seem to perform much better for Business Customers where/when there is significant competition.

Maximum social ROI? No. Rational? Yes.

Monopoly = highest prices at minimum service. Should they be altruistic??? They appear to be playing the game well under the rules of the current system.
