I can't really add anything you would feel is important to your discussion (since I'm one of those "nuts" who believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible) and excuse me for "butting in" but I recently read a book I enjoyed on Mt Sinai.

It's called "the Mount Sinai Myth" by Larry Williams and (for me) identifies the location of the mountain as being Jabal Al Lawz in northwestern Saudi Arabia. Pictures of the rock pillars at it's base, the cave of Elijah, the alter site of the Golden Calf, etc. etc.

Sure -- the Lord didn't put a roadsign labeling it, and the writer may be wrong, but for me, it was interesting, exciting, and correct.

Mars, the Bible states that Peter did deny Christ just as Jesus had told him that he would. He also said Peter was the rock that he would build his church upon. What you failed to mention was that Christ returned among the disciples after his resurrection after God gave him the keys to the Kingdom. At that point when he returned to Heaven to assume his rightful place, the presence of the Holy Spirit, the 3rd Deity of the Godhood, entered the Christians. The Holy Spirit, now living within the disciples gave them courage and direction to spread the Word of God throughout the known world as they knew it at that time. (Paul says that the Word was given to all men during that period)
The Christians never again showed any cowardice as they gladly went to their deaths as martyrs for the Kingdom of God. To my knowledge, the only one who was not martyred was John, who penned "the Revelation" while imprisoned.
