Mars, It is an accepted fact that Christ did not come in power and vengeance to destroy the Jews oppressors. That is the reason that the Jews denied that he was the Son of God. He, in fact, did set the Sanhedrin and those who were givers of the Jewish law against him because, as he said they were snakes and vipers who were hypocrites. These egotistical priests could not believe in the suffering Messiah as foretold in the Old Testament because the flesh and the law got in the way of what he offered mankind. They also were afraid that if they accepted him, they would be punished by there overseers, the Romans. One does not have to look very far to see the truth of his statement about setting one against another. Read a little about the state of Jerusalem in 70AD. James
