Thanks for the posts. I better understand the origins of your concerns and I have understood since the beginning of this debate the "theoretical" problems that will limit our civil liberties. I just don't think in reality that the average American will suffer from the proposed changes as much as he will benefit from the increased protection they will offer. I agree with this part of Thomas Watson's response to the other article you posted:

"What is really said at the link you posted. If you put dishonest men in office we are in trouble"

That is why I think it is hugely important to have people of character in office. Even without these new federal powers Clinton was able to illegally snoop through people's FBI files and tar anybody that made allegations against him. Those actual issues did not seem to bother the people who are worried about future possible violations. Seems hypocritical to me.
