Honestly, I don't think it matters in the short-to-intermediate term what the numbers say. If, for example, you show someone Cisco's stock performance over 10 years then you show minutely scrutinized financial results for today, there will still be many willing to buy.

I don't think stocks ever get to "proper" valuation unless they actually go to zero. Under or over, there's always a disconnect since we're dealing with future expectations and they are unknowable.

Now there are people with actual crystal balls but I don't think they're talking to the public. They're hiding out somewhere having a good time <g>

That said, pro forma is just license to make things up IMO.
