That should be an awesome machine. Now if you could get one with SMT enabled....

Heh... even if I could get the chip enabled, I'd still need the O/S to recognize the SMT. For good or ill, I go with Windows version "whatever seems the most stable with enough drivers" when I build a system...

I'll probably slap a Geforce 3 of some flavor in with a SB Audigy system, couple of hard drives, DVD, CD-RW... Should be a rockin' system. Last time I built one was my P2 350. My wife's still using it... works great. Only problem I had was when I installed a game that used an unstable DirectX version (5.02a or something if memory serves, it's been ages ago).

Intel is lining up DDR Memory infrastructure support for Mobile Pentium 4/Northwood LapTop introduction.

SO-DIMMs are used on portables - and the only DDR chip set has in the wings is for the Pentium 4.

Intel may beat AMD to the DDR Memory/Mobile Market !!!

AVL Now Offers a Complete Line of Intel-Certified SO-DIMM, Unbuffered and Registered DDR DIMM Validation Services


FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Validation Labs®, Inc. (AVL) announced today that it has received certification by Intel® Corporation to provide PC1600 and PC2100 SO-DIMM system validation services. AVL customers, including DRAM manufacturers, PC OEMs, motherboard manufacturers, and memory module manufacturers, will benefit from this validation program by ensuring their readiness to support the DDR SO-DIMM launch in portable platforms in 2002.

DDR266 memory chip validation

PC2100 DDR DIMM validation (unbuffered) on Intel desktop reference platform
PC1600 DDR SO-DIMM validation on Intel notebook reference platform
