The rate cut rally might have sold off on its own late in the day, but Merck was primarily responsible for taking the market down IMO. RE: "Do you consider trading patterns during certain portions of the day (the close, for example) as being any more "significant" than those at other times of the day?" I watch the first 90 minutes and last 90 minutes more closely than times in between. Most of the volume for the day is traded during those periods. Most of my trades are made during those periods.
