Agree clappy. The Northern Alliance could have made air holes in those containers. If it can be shown that the prisoners were intentionally mistreated, then those responsible should be punished............ regardless of how horrific the Taliban atrocities were........ Aren't Alliance atrocities not on par with their enemy?? Two wrongs certainly don't make a right IMO.......... I doubt we will get anyone over there to understand this point very easily.

This is a region that has been in turmoil for more than a millennium. It seems ingrained in the people to use malicious deadly force to get their POV across........ or to extract vengeance against those who committed atrocities against their own people........... And all too often, this is done in the name of Allah. This is what I fear most. I don't see this changing overnight.

It certainly seems to be one harsh group (Taliban) is being replaced by one almost as harsh (NA) ........ at least that is what some reports from Afghanistan seem to imply. Hopefully there will be a peacekeeping force in place long enough to allow for folks to understand that there are other ways to express differences of opinion & that the rule of law includes human rights................. well, one can hope anyway :-|
