I agree with you that Dell will eventually be unseated as well (or they'll transform their business so much that you won't recognize it as a PC company), but it won't be HWP, CPQ, or IBM that unseats them. Any thoughts on who it will be?

If Carly had any balls (humor) then she'd merge with Amazon... get distribution to compete with Dell and a good consumer channel...

Naw... HP has a corporate objective of profits...Amazon lacks 'em, but the idea is interesting.

Why shouldn't the end retailer actually eliminate ALL the middle man profits and buy HWP or CPQ shells to assemble the PCs they sell to customers? Why give any profits to a consolidated HWP/CPQ? Perhaps Walmart should buy the PC business from BOTH HP and CPQ then let HP and CPQ become more of a service and printer/imaging company?
