Three-Year Agreement Provides Broadband and MPLS Enabled IP VPN's to 60 International Locations

FRANKFURT, Germany & EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2001--Infonet Services Corporation (NYSE:IN; FSE:IN), a leading provider of global communications for multinationals, today announced it has been awarded a three-year multi-service renewal contract with Volkswagen AG, the premier German automobile manufacturer, to provide global management of their international data communications services linking over 60 Volkswagen AG locations worldwide. This communications initiative is the foundation for Volkswagen AG's future business plans and global strategic processes.

Volkswagen AG is the parent company of the Volkswagen Group, the largest automobile manufacturer in Europe and the fourth largest in the world. The Volkswagen Group is comprised of nine independent brands, 43 production facilities worldwide, with product availability in 150 countries.

After a thorough and comprehensive review of several potential suppliers, Volkswagen AG chose to renew their existing contact with Infonet. Decisive criteria involved in the decision-making process included the company's price-performance ratio, flexibility and customer care, in addition to the detailed customised network capacity and troubleshooting reporting capabilities performed on the company's existing infrastructure to generate a significant Return on Investment (ROI).

``In particular, the ability to provide flexible, customised options to enterprise critical applications is a crucial advantage to the Infonet service offering,'' explained Klaus Schulz, Manager Communications Systems at Volkswagen AG. ``Based upon our existing three-year relationship with Infonet, their customised network portfolio offerings have enabled our organisation to provide our clientele with interactive transactions for mission-critical applications which are of our highest priority. Simultaneously, we required a supplier who offers a worldwide homogenous network, via a single source provider, that could accommodate the demanding requirements of Volkswagen AG's global business processes,'' he concluded.

Under the terms of the new contractual agreement, Infonet was chosen to provide a range of services globally for Volkswagen AG, including broadband, remote access and MPLS-based IP-VPN. As further worldwide connectivity objectives are required, additional services will be added to broaden the scope of the organisation's global network initiatives.

``We are very pleased to continue our mutually beneficial relationship with Volkswagen AG,'' commented Micheline Wens, Managing Director of Infonet Network Services Deutschland GmbH. ``By providing innovative solutions with global network coverage, individual local support and 30 years of experience, Infonet prides itself on guaranteeing high levels of service and satisfaction to its new and existing customer base, particularly as they embark on global network expansions.''
