Stupid for whom? Lately price is king.

The reality is most people compare your system for $1000 and a Compaq of HP at Best Buy / Circuit City / Computer Land for $695. The math is simple, until they work on one of your's and the retail model for a while and ask you why yours seems faster with the same speed processor.

It is your job to offer the junk, and up-sell the product they need. I was surprised at first to find PC100 memory in a compaq I bought in 9/2000. For some odd reason my 1.1GHz I built tests out much more that 20% faster than the Compaq 850 (same processor).
