The problem is that I think that this is not unlikely... It really does seem to me that this was an 11th hour decision, and all of the factors would've been apparent before the last minute other than price.

But what do I know? I happen to think that this is an unimportant issue. The fact stands that Intel got the contract, and AMD didn't. It was good for Intel no matter what, and if the market had stayed strong, it wouldn't have been much of a loss for AMD. However, the market didn't stay strong, and I'm sure that the loss of that contract stings AMD.
