Agreed, like Net-to-Phone, etc. That's not VoIP means to me. However Cisco's VoIP actually uses IP-based telephones at the enterprise level.

VoIP from Sonus replaces the telcos' central office switches.

Its transparent to the user. The user has a VoIP phone at
the desktop which they use like a regular phone. The magic
happens at all the boxes in between which is invisible to the user. People keep harping about QOS here, that is
not a difficult problem to solve at all. In fact most Cisco
and our competitors product have QOS in the software.
