"I think your whole argument is centered around this belief, as well as the belief that Duron would have made a more viable X-Box"

Now where did I ever give the impression that I thought the Duron would have made a more viable XBox? I think it is clear that the performance of the processor is not the most relevant part of the system, else it would be using something better than a 733MHz CPU. There is an article on XBox internals by Michael Abrash on the Dr. Dobbs site. It makes it abundantly clear that much of the work is done by the nVidia chipset and not the processor, which is used to setup the data transfers and handle the game AI. It was printed in August or September of last year, it gives a real good run down on how the XBox operates.

Obviously, the XBox was/is not wedded to AMD. I doubt if Microsoft really cared, aside from whether or not they had the performance and price they needed. Because that is what it all boiled down to.

I think your whole argument is centered around this belief, as well as the belief that Duron would have made a more viable X-Box, meaning that all Intel could have done was compete on price alone.

I don't think Combjelly is really the champion of this belief. I just think he enjoys a good lively discussion, which is fine. It's really Jimbo and the other Droids who whined the most that Intel was losing money on the deal. At least that's my recollection.
