Bob, Now, if I could only get my wife to come to the same conclusion.
The writing has been on the wall for this one ever since 1993. The very first thing Hawkins should have done when he purchased New World Computing was to keep that name and drop 3DO. Wall Street never forgave the guy for his Hollywood style hype of the doomed 3DO player.
With his expertise of product branding, Hawkins achieved the exact opposite of what every Harvard bred MBA could hope for. 3DO became the unenviable 'best of the worst' in the video game industry.
He could have saved himself and investors a ton of money by simply calling it quits after EA.

Bob, Nice story today by Thom Calandra at CBSMarketwatch on Brian Farrell and THQ. Farrell is a former real estate executive. How do you go from selling houses to video games so successfully? It must be the Irish in him. Whatever the reason, he's the kind of guy Hawkins needs to talk to and in a hurry.

The name of 3DO's most recent release 'GoDai', says it all for the company's prospects. Isn't it time to pull the proverbial plug on this one and put these guys out of their misery? Enron's fall though more spectacular, is at least quick and merciful while Hawkins' demise is slow and tortuous.
