OT-Exactly, Jacob. The commoditization phase is well upon us in LEDs. It is due to the fact that they are subject to Moore's law that these tiny solid state devices are now much cheaper than conventional light bulbs. And nobody has to pay any exorbitant license fees either.

I go to REI and see LED flashlights going for $25. Is that a franchise?<g>

Seriously, I suppose one franchise goes to whoever is the biggest player who has access to the cheapest capital and who then becomes the lowest cost provider. (GE, where are you?) That usually sets up a hurdle to the new guy. But in this business, there may be advantages to latecomers who can jump on the curve and be unburdened with less efficient plant. Just don't know enough about the manufacturing process to say.
