Bell Canada to be categorized as "discontinued" by BCE
Bell Canada International Inc BI
Shares issued 79,013,413 Dec 12 2001 close $1.340
Wednesday Dec 12 2001 News Release
Mr. Peter Burn of Bell Canada International reports
Bell Canada International has been informed that BCE Inc., its principal shareholder, intends to change the accounting treatment for its investment in BCI in the first quarter of 2002 so that its holding of BCI is categorized as a "discontinued operation." BCI understands this to be consistent with the transfer of BCI to BCE Ventures in October, 2000.
BCE's change of accounting treatment of its investment in BCI does not in any way change BCE's commitment and support to the BCI recapitalization plan reported in Stockwatch on Dec. 3, 2001, and reflected in BCI's final prospectus dated Dec. 7, 2001, in connection with the rights offering which constitutes part of the recapitalization plan.
WARNING: The company relies upon litigation protection for "forward-looking" statements.

My pick was up 17% today. Unfortunately it is still down 41% from last Friday's close. :)

ONC is holding a conference call and simultaneous webcast tomorrow morning at 9:00am to discuss the interim results from their phase I cancer trial.

With good results, SYB may go up with them and I'll be looking for the 'most improved' award this week. :)

Cheers,
P.D.T.
