Still not bad. Clipping off a net of $1500 a week.

You know the old saying? "A few Hundred a day keeps the doctor away."

I don't know if you previously posted your trades in realtime, but I have watched you trade for the last 2 months while AMAT has been in a strong uptrend and I have been impressed by your excellent timing from the short side. As I have suggested earlier, I think countercyclical trading can be quite profitable because reactions tend to be quick, but procyclical trading is easier in a trending market because you can be bailed out by the trend even if your timing is off.

As you are playing with about $200K here (5000 shares at 40 apparently being your max position) I'd call this about a 55% year for you. That's pretty good. I booked an almost 50% year last year, my best ever, which I credit mostly to having the good fortune of tending to shy away from tech in March and April as the conference season winds to a close. '98 and '99 were only mediocre years for me as I exited great positions like GLW way too early, mania not being congruent with my personality. This year I'm under about a pint of water, though I haven't done the math yet.
Had a few cuts and scratches with HAL and even ENE, minor positions fortunately. Pretty ugly though. Why is it we prefer to talk about the pretty girls, even the ones that get away sometimes?<g>
